I guess (at least, I hope) you all have heard about it, but here's a link. It's been all over the news since yesterday. He is in hot water over it. Today he had a private meeting with the President, and Obama probably aked him over the coals.

I skimmed the frist 4-5 pages and it seems it is his staff that said the most "disrespectful" stuff.

I don't personally see what all the fuss is about. A group of soldiers talking shit like they always do - most of it is not to be taken seriously - it is just the back-and-forth between soldiers that happens every day.

What am I missing?

It's not "just talking shit". It's undermining the stability of what we are trying to do. Machrystal said it to a magazine reporter, and as such, it does deserve to be taken seriously.

BTW, Obama was on TV just now, and he has fired McChrystal.

No it wasn't. It was the general in charge of America's longest running war running down the CIC to Rolling Stone Magazine.

"Rolling Stone" still has a sizable circulation in actual paper magazine form. 1.5 million. No telling how many subscribers on the web versions.

Generals don't dis the CINC in the press. Well, pretty much no subordinate is supposed to dis his superior in the press while in the military. As soon as I read some of the things he said, I thought that maybe someone was going to "retire" a little earlier than planned...

Da birdie got the axe. I hope his little birdie didn't get the axe. Is he married? The poor wife.

Oh, bullshit. In the context of where it happened the Rolling Stoner ought to be fried by his lil rolling doobie britches.

The reporter did nothing wrong. He just opened the trap door for a bunch of idgits to hang themselves. Flix may be right, but 60 minutes has been doing it for decades.

You're right. Also, I cannot believe that pedaphile(?) show where those pervs get popped meeting 'underage' kids! On one show they popped a guy who they'd caught on a previous sting. WTF?

McChrystal's staff shot their mouth off, and he dis'ed the twit of a amasador. He was far from a McArthor move. But he should have knowen better, and He & Obama knew there wasn't a lot of options. Let it slide, Obama is weak, fire him and he has thin skin. They were both screwed by bad timing. Why he let a far left reporter join his crew in a bar, waiting for a plane and getting loaded. That alone should have gotten him fired. Bush did the same. Shooting your mouth off around a reporter is plain stupid...
